Hanger’s Season 8 vision is finalised by a film in association with NOWNESS, designer Claire Davis has collaborated with Juno Calypso and Studio Augmenta to bring SLEEPY CHAN to life, with screenplay and direction by Jade Jackman. Having grown up in a cult, SLEEPY CHAN is Davis’ opportunity to proffer a new vision of commune life and its principles in a collection and film. In doing so, the designer has created a sci-fi critique of societies cult like worship of capitalism, religion and work whilst also proposing a meditative antidote. A vivid journey into the workings of SLEEPY CHAN takes the viewer into three carefully considered rooms, each one drenched in a designated colour; red, green and blue. Each representing a surrealist vision of the future, one in which people eschew the chaos of modern life in favour of being governed by relaxation, appreciation for slowness and deliberated craftsmanship.
